Orange County GMC Receives Highest Certification as a Comprehensive Stroke Center

Santa Ana, CA – Orange County Global Medical Center has been awarded accreditation by HFAP, the nation’s original independent, accreditation organization recognized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Accreditation confirms that Orange County Global Medical Center is providing high quality care as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation. Orange County Global Medical Center is proud to be one of only four Comprehensive Stroke Centers in Orange County, and one in less than 200 nationwide.

A stroke occurs when the brain is deprived of sufficient blood flow, leading to an interruption in the delivery of vital oxygen and nutrients. A delayed disruption to normal blood flow can cause lasting damage to brain tissue. Early administration is proven to improve long-term outcomes and the key to recovery starts during the first couple of hours when a stroke hits.

“Orange County Global Medical Center’s highly-trained stroke team includes board-certified emergency and trauma physicians, neurologists, interventional neuro-radiologists, neuro-surgeons and other stroke care specialists who are devoted to delivering exceptional patient care,” said Orange County Global Medical Center Chief Executive Officer, Suzanne Richards. “Time is precious when the first onset of stroke symptoms first occurs. As a stroke receiving center, our team is skilled and experienced in treating stroke symptoms, fast.”

As a comprehensive stroke center, Orange County Global Medical Center offers stroke emergency evaluation and intervention, stroke work-up, stroke treatment in accordance with guidelines set forth by the American Heart Association and post-discharge follow up.
