Coming soon, we will be re-opening our newly remodeled Geropsychiatric Unit, Discoveries, to serve one of Orange County’s must underserved communities. Golden Years, a program facilitated by the Discoveries unit, focuses on patients with mood disorders, acute psychosis, major depression, anxiety and adjustment disorders of aging and early dementia. Golden Years provides an individualized treatment program for each patient. A variety of approaches are used, including: group, individual, and family counseling. In addition, Golden Years provides specialized treatment modalities such as music, art, occupational, and recreational therapy.
Our Golden Years program is a voluntary, Medicare-funded inpatient, Gero-Psych program that serves patients 55 years and older with acute behavioral issues. Our program will include individualized assessment and treatment planning, therapeutic daily activities and comprehensive discharge planning. The multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, internal medicine physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, a registered nutritionist, physical therapist and an occupational therapist.
